I've just posted my very first short story from the "Minstrel of the Dead" series: Vision of a Lunar Morn. It's really exciting!
PLEASE READ AND CRITIQUE! Or just read!
I am very proud of my story and don't really care if it isn't long, or good (although I personally think it's AWESOME!).
In other news, I FINISHED Assassin's Creed 2 today. The ending was a little upsetting thanks to the epic build-up they had going. The final boss fight was cool but kinda boring mechanics-wise (It's just a regular fight against a dude with TONS of health). And the mysterious history behind the entire story is incredibly confusing and a bit ludicrous if you ask me. This was okay in the first one (cause they explained everything immediately in #2) but COME ON UBISOFT!
However, after I thought everything was over and the credits started a'rollin' I was shocked to find that I was still playing. Desmond (the stupid guy from the 'modern world'
You beat the living crap out a bunch of Templar guards (who should probably have used guns instead of night sticks) And confront you're old pal Vidic only to have him get away with a "Enjoy your victory for now" line, but he might as well have said "I'll get you next time Gadget!"
I found this new ending awesome in three ways:
1)Desmond is finally an AWESOME assassin! I honestly thought the guy didn't have it in him.
2)The fight was incredibly satisfying! Especially after I robbed a guard of his bludgeon and proceeded to beat him upside the head with it.
3)It sets up the scene for the third game, which will INCLUDE the Animus (not some futuristic assassin crap that everyone thinks will happen). But where will you go? WHEN will you end up?
My money's on the era circumventing Moorish Spain. First of all, the main villain in AC2 is a Spaniard. Second, they make a lot of references to Queen Isabella. Third, It is a perfect setting filled with war, amazing architecture to climb, and famous figures (El Cid!) who could be involved with the fictional history. And lastly, I think that it would be absolutely INCREDIBLE!
So despite the endgame disappointments, Assassin's Creed 2 has been quite the experience. Every other aspect of the game is flawless. The only time it felt repetitive was when I was doing any racing mission (although they are contextual) and whenever I had to follow and enemy around (this was always 100% ANNOYING!).
I think that you should all give it a try!
*NOTE: for those of you Italian Assassin's who need a little more excitement to your murders. Have you ever noticed those guys in the street trying to sweep up their doorsteps? Have you ever knocked one of them over? Well if you have not, do so and try to pick up their Broom. It actually works as the most hilarious weapon in the game! You will be laughing for hours at the craziest counters and quick kills you've ever seen. BEWARE THE BROOM WARRIORS! THEY CLEAN THAT SMILE OFF YOUR FACE!
